Botox

How Does Botox work?

Botox interferes with the nerve stimulation of the muscle causing excess facial expressions. When the muscle relaxes, the line diminishes. Basically, Botox works by paralyzing the muscles underneath the skin.

When will I see results?

Noticeable results should appear around 3 to 5 days. Skin starts to feel tighter; you should see less movement and wrinkling in the injected areas. It can take up to 2 weeks to see the full results. If you have static lines and wrinkles, they may begin to lessen over time and with repeated treatments.

How long do results last?

Everyone’s different, but typically results last around 12 weeks. It depends on the treatment area and your aesthetic goals.

What must I avoid after treatment?

Avoid using any creams and make up for at least 6 to 8 hours. You may wash your face with warm water and soap.

Can Botox be done at the same time as other procedures?

Absolutely. Many of our patients come in for Botox, and also have filler done at the same time.

I'm pregnant or nursing, can I be treated with Botox?

We recommend avoiding neuromodulator treatments during pregnancy and while nursing.

Dermal Fillers

How long until I see results?

You’ll start to see results almost immediately, and can expect to see full results in about 2 weeks.

How long do results last?

Everyone’s different, but typically results last anywhere from 6-18 months. It really depends on the filler we use and your aesthetic goals.

What is the downtime? When can I go back to work?

One of the things that makes dermal fillers so great is there’s little downtime. There’s no reason you can’t go back to work afterwards, although keep in mind that you may experience some redness, swelling or bruising.

Does it hurt? Is there bruising?

We use a topical anesthetic before making injections to help minimize any discomfort during the treatment. We also use an icepak before and after. You can also take Tylenol before and after to help reduce any pain. You may experience bruising and swelling, which can take 1-2 weeks to go away. Therefore, we don’t recommend scheduling your appointment right before a big event.

Can I receive dermal filler while pregnant or nursing?

We recommend avoiding dermal filler treatments during pregnancy or while nursing.

What must I avoid after my treatment?

After your treatment: no exercise/working out for 24 hours; no facials for 2 weeks. Try not to touch the area excessively for the first 24 hours, except to apply arnica gel. And you may want to avoid salty foods and alcoholic beverages as they can contribute to swelling.

Are fillers reversible?

The fillers we carry are all hyaluronic acid based and can be easily dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Sculptra

How does Sculptra work?

Sculptra is injected into the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. It contains PLLA, which acts as a collagen stimulator, helping to gradually restore fullness to facial wrinkles and folds. This results in a softer and more youthful appearance.

How many treatments will I need?

Sculptra usually requires at least three treatments administed a month apart. It comes in vials, and the number of vials needed varies by each individual patient.

When will I see my results?

Noticeable changes from Sculptra are very gradual. Most patients report that they look the same a few days after treatment (which is normal and temporary). Because changes take place over time, you’ll see subtle yet noticeable results in the reduction of facial wrinkles and folds by comparing images before treatment and a few weeks following your final treatment. The results are natural and lasts for 2-5 years.

Kybella

What is Kybella?

Kybella is an injected, prescription medicine that is approved by the FDA for fat reduction in the submental area. Kybella breaks down stubborn fat deposits in the neck area that cause the appearance of a double chin. While only indicated for injection under the chin, some patients have seen successful fat reduction after Kybella injections in the stomach, back rolls, and above the knees and elbows.

How does Kybella work?

Kybella’s active ingredient is a substance called deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the chin, it permanently destroys the fat cells. This causes the area to look noticeably slimmer in the weeks and months following treatment. Reducing fat under the chin also helps define the jawline and the transition between the chin and the neck, giving it a more elegant contour.

Who is a good candidate?

Ideal candidates for Kybella are individuals who have submental fullness, are 18 years of age or older, wish to avoid surgery or lengthy recovery, and are in good overall health. Our medical team will evaluate your anatomy and determine if you are a good candidate for Kybella.

How long does one treatment take?

Each Kybella treatment takes 15-20 minutes, and it is admnistered in a series of small injections directly into the submental area.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people need 2-4 treatments spaced at least 1 month apart. Larger double chins require more treatments while smaller double chine require less. Up to 6 treatments may be performed.

How long do results last?

Once the desired result is achieved, results are permanent, as the fat cells have been destroyed. However, results may be affected by weight gain and natural aging.

Are there any side effects?

Though Kybella is non-surgical, some common side effects include pain, swelling, bruising, redness, and numbness, which should reside in 1-2 weeks. Rarely, more serious side effects can occur including nerve injury in the jaw and trouble swallowing.

Hydrafacial

What sets HydraFacial apart from other hydradermabrasion treatments?

HydraFacial uses a unique, patented Vortex-Fusion delivery system to exfoliate, extract and hydrate skin, and, the spiral design delivers painless extractions.

What is Vortex-Fusion technology?

The spiral design of HydroPeel® Tips, used in conjunction with the HydraFacial proprietary vacuum technology and serums, creates a vortex effect to easily dislodge and remove impurities while simultaneously delivering hydrating skin solutions.

Who is the ideal candidate for HydraFacial?

The ideal candidate for Hydrafacial has fine lines, minor skin discolorations, and is looking to rejuvenate the skin. Most people are candidates for HydraFacial as it is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the HydraFacial treatment.

How long does HydraFacial take?

HydraFacial is a fast, efficient treatment that takes as little as 30 minutes. You may put on makeup and return to your normal activities right after the treatment since there is no downtime.

When will I see results?

Many clients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment. The smooth results and hydration may last a week or even longer. One treatment per month is recommended for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, oily and congested skin. Continued HydraFacial treatments are highly recommended to maintain skin health results.

Microneedling + PRP

What is the advantage of combining Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP is the recommended method of administering PRP to the skin. Microneedling is performed using an electric medical-grade pen. The pen houses 12 fine needles which create fine microchannels in the skin. These channels reach safely and effectively to the deep dermal layers.

Once microneedling has been performed, the PRP is applied to your skin. The PRP will follow the microchannels created by the microneedling and soak into the deep dermis. The PRP will get to work right away to promote cell growth and speed up the rate and quality of your renewal.

Microneedling by itself makes a beautiful improvement in the look and health of the skin, but adding PRP will optimize your microneedling results to achieve a more dramatic improvement in skin volume and clarity.

How does Microneedling with PRP improve my skin?

Microneedling with PRP application will stimulate the healthy function of your skin. The microchannels create “mini wounds” in the skin, which will promote the renewal of damaged, scarred skin. The growth factors in the platelet proteins will engage with the deep dermis on a cellular level. This promotes better renewal and produces a greater amount of collagen growth than microneedling alone. The growth factors will also improve the speed of cell turnover. Skin becomes much fuller, filling in fine lines and wrinkles.

Can Microneedling with PRP treat scarring?

The PRP will facilitate new skin cell production that will slowly replace damaged, scarred skin. Skin will become smoother and more even-toned. Subsequent PRP applications will continue to improve the appearance of acne scars and discolorations until the skin finally is smooth and clear. Most patients see their best results within three treatments, spaced four to six weeks apart.

How many sessions are needed?

Patients see their best skin after three PRP applications. We recommend spacing each session at least four to six weeks apart. To keep skin glowing and looking its best, we recommend repeating one PRP application every six months.

Who is the ideal candidate for Microneedling with PRP?

Microneedling with PRP is ideal for someone that wishes to improve the appearance of skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, and uneven skin tone and texture.

Who is Microneedling with PRP not recommended for?

Microneedling with PRP is not recommended for those who have used Accutane within six months, have open wounds or a skin infection, have had radiation treatment within the last year, are pregnant, or have a history of keloid scars.

Is there anything important to know during the recovery process?

For at least 3 days post treatment, do not use any alpha hydroxy acids, beta hydroxy acid, retinol products, or vitamin C based skincare. Avoid direct sun exposure for 1 week. Do not go swimming or wash face for 24 hours after your microneedling with PRP procedure. Avoid exercising and strenuous activity for the first 24 hours following treatment.

Are there any side effects?

Microneedling with PRP is generally well tolerated but redness may be seen after treatment, lasting for 2-3 days. Skin may also feel warm, tight and itchy after treatment however this normally resolves in 12-48 hours. Sun protection is advised for a week and local antibiotic creams may be prescribed to help prevent a bacterial infection. PRP itself has no negative effects since it is a natural product created from your own body.

VI Peel

How many VI Peels will I need, and how far apart should they be done?

A single peel will add a healthy glow, improving skin tone, texture and clarity. It reduces or eliminates hyperpigmentation, sunspots and softens fine lines and wrinkles. The number of treatments varies by individual needs and conditions and will be determined by our medical aesthetician. For extremely damaged skin, the VI peel can be done once a month for quicker results. For most patients 2-3 VI peels a year is all you need to maintain your results. Maintaining a proper skin care regime between peels will ensure the best duration of your results.

What will I look like right after the VI Peel and how much will I peel?

Your skin will look slightly tan or bronzed immediately after the peel due to the retinoic acid. This fades within the hour. Over the next few days your skin will feel tighter, any pigmented areas may appear slightly darker at first. Skin peeling usually begins by day 3, it’s a light fluffy peeling and is easily controlled with moisturizer. In some cases the peel is virtually invisible. Patients on Retin-A may experience heavier peeling. By day 6 or 7 you will be done peeling and your skin will look amazing.

Is a VI Peel painful?

Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.

Are there any restrictions on activities after the VI Peel?

We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after the peel. Its advisable to keep sun exposure to a minimum when skin is peeling. SPF is a required daily.

Can I wear makeup after the VI Peel?

You can wear makeup after the skin has completed the peeling process. During the peeling process, only moisturizer is advised.

Medical Facials

What are medical facials?

A medical facial follows the same general steps as a classic spa facial, including cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and hydration. The primary difference between these two treatments is that medical facials are performed in a physician’s office using medical-grade products and tools. Since medical facials are performed within a physician’s office, the skincare professional administering the treatment is able to affect the skin at a deeper level. For example, a low concentration chemical peel may be used during a classic spa facial, whereas high-concentration, unbuffered acids can be used during a medical facial. Medical facials are highly customizable and can be tailored to your specific skin needs and concerns. Additional treatment add-ons such a dermaplaning may be incorporated to physically exfoliate the top layer of the skin and enhance the absorption of the chemical peel solution. Medical facials are also an effective complement to in-office treatments such as dermal fillers and laser skin resurfacing.

Who is a good candidate for a medical facial?

Since medical facials are highly customizable, they can effectively address a wide spectrum of skin concerns, making them appropriate for nearly everyone. Your skincare professional will work with you to understand your specific skin needs and will recommend a customized medical facial treatment plan.

When is the best time to get a medical facial?

When and how often to get a medical facial depends on a variety of factors including skin concerns, desired outcome, and the type of treatment performed. If you are looking to improve chronic acne, you may benefit from a series of medical facials spaced 4-6 weeks apart. If you are seeking quick skin rejuvenation to improve radiance prior to a big event, you may benefit from a single medical facial. However, the results are generally more pronounced after a series of treatments. Since these facial treatments leverage medical-grade products and tools, it is recommended that they are performed during periods when sun exposure will be limited. This does not necessarily eliminate the summer months, but it is important to be very diligent about sun protection.

How do I apply Latisse?

Latisse is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes once a day.

How soon will I see results?

As the treatment progresses, you’ll first begin to see changes in length. Then, gradually, you’ll notice more thickness and darkness in your lashes. If you’re satisfied with your results by week 4, don’t stop there. Stick with the treatment. At week 16, you should see full results.

What happens if I stop using Latisse?

If you stop using Latisse, your lashes gradually lose the extra length, fullness, and darkness provided by the medication until they reach their previous appearance.

Are there any side effects?

The most common side effects after using Latisse are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which were reported in approximately 4% of clinical trial patients. Latisse may cause other less common side effects which typically occur close to where Latisse is applied. These include skin darkening, dryness of the eyes, eye irritation, and redness of the eyelids

What makes Latisse different from other eyelash growth serums?

Latisse is the only FDA-approved product clinically proven to grow lashes longer, fuller, and darker. The active ingredient, bimatoprost, makes lash growth possible. No other product on the market has this active ingredient in it.

Do I need a prescription for Latisse?

Yes, a prescription is necessary for Latisse. A consultation is required to receive a prescription at Neurostrive.

Who is suitable for Masseter Botox?

If you are self-conscious about having an overly square jaw, masseter muscle Botox may be a potential treatment to narrow your jawline and produce a more v-shaped lower face. Additionally, teeth grinding, and jaw clenching will also be reduced.

How long does it take for Masseter Botox to see results?

You can expect to see results in 2 weeks, with full results being noticeable within 4 weeks.

How often is Masseter Botox needed to maintain results?

We recommend every 3-4 months for most people, however over time with regular treatments, you’ll find that you can go longer between treatments before needing more.

Will Masseter Botox affect my smile?

When done by properly trained and experienced medical practitioners, botox should not affect your smile. Our board-certified doctors are highly experienced in correct botox dosage and placement in the correct muscle. They have successfully performed numerous masseter botox procedures on patients not only south Florida, but from all over the United States and the world.

Excessive Sweating

How does Botox treat excessive sweating?

Hyperhidrosis is defined as severe or excessive sweating that normally occurs in the armpits or on the palms. Botox works by blocking nerve impulses that stimulate eccrine gland production. Botox prevents these glands from producing sweat.

What is the typical recovery time?

You will be able to resume your normal activity immediately after receiving your injections of Botox. However, vigorous rubbing of the area should be avoided for at least 48 hours after treatment. You should also avoid exercise for 24 hours after treatment.

When will I see results?

Effects of Botox for excessive sweating are usually noticeable within the first week following treatment, with full results appearing within two weeks.

How long do results last?

For most people, the results of Botox can last 6 to 12 months to dramatically reduce or stop sweating in the treatment area. You will need to have the treatment repeated as the effects wear off and normal function returns to the nerves.

ICON Laser

Am I a good candidate?

With the advanced technology of the ICON Fractional Laser, treatments can be safely used on most skin types. During your initial consultation, we will assess your skin and goals and determine if the treatment is right for you.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Virtually anywhere on the body can be safely and effectively treated such as: wrinkles and fine lines of the face, neck, and décolletage; acne scars of the face; stretch marks of the breasts, hips, buttocks, and thighs; scars anywhere on the body; skin discoloration of the face and body.

How many treatments will I need?

It depends on what you’re getting treated, but we usually recommend 2-5 sessions of ICON laser treatments around 6-8 weeks apart for optimum results. Reducing scar tissue will be on the higher end of treatments needed, while skin rejuvenation and pigmentation will take less treatments. Our medical practitioner will discuss this with you during your initial consultation and help you form a plan.

Is the treatment painful?

The discomfort felt during the procedure is typically described by most of our patients as minor. Patients are also welcome to come in a bit early for their appointment to have a prescription topical numbing cream applied to the areas being treated.

Are there any side effects?

Following the procedure most patients experience redness and swelling in treated areas for a few hours. Rarely, this can last as long as 2 days. The areas can be masked with a physician approved foundation 24 hours following the procedure. As your new skin tissue is generated in the treated area you will notice positive changes in your skin that continue to occur for several months following the procedure.

SmartSkin CO2 Resurfacing Laser

How long does the treatment take?

The entire face can be treated in less than 30 minutes.

What should I expect immediately following treatment?

Immediately after the treatment, your skin will feel warm and may appear sunburned. You may see some redness and swelling which is completely normal.

What type of result can I expect?

After a few days, you will notice a more even skin tone, smoother skin texture and healthier looking skin. Over time, collagen will regenerate and restore the supporting structure of your skin providing continued results months after the treatment.

How long will the results last?

With proper skin care and protection, results can last years.

When can I resume daily my activities?

Since the SmartSkin CO2 laser delivers micro pulses of energy you will experience a significantly shorter recovery time than with fully ablative lasers. Each tiny hole will quickly heal and in a few days you can return to your normal lifestyle. Treatments are adjustable so downtime will depend on the treatment you receive.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically, only one treatment is needed for desired results. However, since treatments can be adjusted to your cosmetic and downtime expectations, you can opt for two or three “lighter” sessions.

Can it cause scarring?

Although the CO2 laser is ablative, meaning the top layer of the skin is completely resurfaced, scarring should not be a result of the treatment itself when performed properly by a well-trained provider and when pre- and post-care instructions are followed. CO2 laser is intended to help treat existing scarring and wrinkles and improve skin texture.

IPL Laser

How long does IPL treatment take?

IPL treatments are quick, easy, and generally pain-free. You may feel a slight tingling sensation as the handpiece is passed over the treatment area. Treatment times with the Photofacial can vary depending on the type and severity of your condition. However, your entire IPL treatment will take between 30 and 60 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

Results from non-invasive IPL treatments are gradual and progressive allowing for a subtle and discrete change. Some pigmented lesions will initially darken and fall off while others simply are reabsorbed into the body fading over time. You may see some improvement as early as 1-week post-treatment with your IPL procedure. Maximum benefits can be seen as collagen and elastin levels are restored over the course of 3-5 months. Many patients require a series of treatments spaced 1-month apart to achieve an optimal outcome. Once you’ve met your initial goals, single maintenance treatment can be done as needed to prolong the effects of your Photofacial series.

Is there any downtime?

While IPL is typically considered a no-downtime procedure, some patients prefer to wait to return to social engagements for up to 1-week as their skin fully heals. However, you are free to get back to your normal routine immediately with several minor restrictions after a Photofacial. A high-quality sunscreen and protective clothing are a must throughout your IPL treatments.

Vectus Hair Laser Removal

Why the Vectus over other laser hair removal machines?

It’s faster, smarter, and a more comfortable technology. Specifically, it features the largest spot size and most uniform beam profile available today, allowing us to quickly treat large areas of unwanted hair – just minutes for back or legs. A sapphire treatment tip with advanced contact cooling helps protect your skin’s epidermis and keeps you comfortable throughout the shorter treatment. A photon recycling and uniform beam profile allows for the most thorough coagulation of hair follicles and this reduces the need for multiple, overlapping passes during your procedure. Finally, it has the only FDA-cleared integrated Skintel melanin reader so we can individualize laser hair removal for your particular hair and skin type.

Why do I need more than one treatment?

Our hair grows in phases, and the five million or so hairs of our body are always in one of these three phases. However, they are never all in the same phase at the same time. Laser hair treatment is only able to damage active follicles. Only hair in the anagen phase will be affected by the laser. This means that after a few weeks, other hair follicles on that same part of your body will need to be treated as they also enter the anagen phase and start growing. It’s impossible to say for certain exactly how many treatments it will take to get all the hair, but for most people, 6 treatments is the norm. After each treatment, you’ll notice a difference.

How is laser hair removal different from Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is an older method of hair removal, and it requires a lot more time than a laser treatment. In electrolysis, each individual hair has to be targeted one at a time. Laser hair treatments can target many hairs with just one pulse.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment, you may experience redness or bumpiness in the area for a few days. Ice packs, cool water, aloe vera gel, or plain cortisone cream can soothe it.

What do I need to know before my first laser hair removal appointment?

Do not wax, pluck, or thread hairs during the few weeks prior to laser hair removal; the laser requires the follicle target to be mature to be effective. You must, however, shave or depilate (depilatory creams include Veet or Nair) the area a day or two prior to laser hair removal, so long hairs above the skin surface do not trap laser heat. Towards the final few treatments, you can allow any last few patches of hair to grow out a bit (a few days) before coming in for treatment, to focus on those areas. In between treatments, feel free to shave or depilate. Wear sunscreen to protect the treated areas. Do not have laser hair removal done if you are already tanned or plan on getting a tan soon after.

IV Therapy

General IV Therapy

What is exactly IV Therapy?

IV drip therapy is an effective way to deliver nutrients, vitamins, and medications to the body because this technique bypasses the digestive system. The drip is administered by a registered nurse via a catheter injected directly into the bloodstream, making the nutrients available for immediate use.

Aren't drips only used in hospitals?

Neurostrive’s IV therapy programs are led by our team of medical doctors and administered by trained medical practitioners. Our IV treatment rooms are designed to be relaxing, comfortable, and upscale. Clients who receive our service leave the experience feeling lifted, refreshed and relaxed, which is very different than the experience found in any emergency room.

How long does an IV treatment take?

Each person and protocol varies, but as a general guide, the treatment can last anywhere from 30-60 minutes.
