Vectus Laser Hair Removal

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light to remove unwanted hair. During the treatment, a laser emits light absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This light energy is converted to heat, which damages the hair follicles and inhibits future hair growth.

  • Minimize sun exposure and avoid tanning lotions.
  • Shave the treatment areas the day before your session to ensure the best results.

  • Protective goggles are worn to shield your eyes from the laser.
  • A topical anesthetic is applied to enhance comfort.
  • The duration depends on the size of the treatment area, but our advanced Vectus laser makes it quick, treating the entire back in less than 10 minutes.

  • Redness and swelling may be present for a few hours.
  • Avoid sun exposure for at least a week.
  • Avoid waxing and plucking, but shaving is allowed.
  • You can resume normal activity immediately after treatment.

  • Hairs will fall out over a few days.
  • Multiple treatments, averaging 6 sessions, are usually necessary.
Why choose the Vectus laser?

The Vectus laser offers speed and efficiency, with the largest spot size and most uniform beam profile available, allowing for quick treatment of large areas, like the back or legs, in minutes. It ensures comfort with a sapphire treatment tip featuring advanced contact cooling to protect your skin. The photon recycling and uniform beam profile ensure thorough coagulation of hair follicles, reducing the need for multiple passes. It also offers personalization, being the only FDA-cleared laser with an integrated Skintel melanin reader, allowing for individualized treatment based on your hair and skin type.

Why multiple treatments?

Hair grows in phases, and only follicles in the active (anagen) phase can be effectively treated. As hair follicles cycle through growth phases at different times, multiple treatments ensure all follicles are targeted.

How is Laser Hair Removal different from Electrolysis?

Electrolysis is an older method of hair removal and requires significantly more time than laser treatments. In electrolysis, each individual hair has to be targeted one at a time, while laser hair treatments can target many hairs with just one pulse.

Are there any side effects?

After treatment, you may experience redness or bumpiness in the treated area for a few days. Ice packs, cool water, aloe vera gel, or plain cortisone cream can soothe the skin.

What do I need to know before my first Laser Hair Removal appointment?

Do not wax, pluck, or thread hairs during the few weeks prior to laser hair removal; the laser requires the follicle target to be mature to be effective. You must, however, shave or use a depilatory cream (such as Veet or Nair) on the area a day or two prior to laser hair removal, so long hairs above the skin surface do not trap laser heat. Towards the final few treatments, you can allow any remaining patches of hair to grow out a bit (a few days) before coming in for treatment to focus on those areas. In between treatments, feel free to shave or use depilatory creams. Wear sunscreen to protect the treated areas. Do not undergo laser hair removal if you are already tanned or plan on getting a tan soon after.
