VI Peel®

VI Peel® is a medium-depth chemical peel that utilizes TCA, phenol, salicylic acid, and other ingredients to exfoliate the skin and reveal smoother, brighter, and less damaged layers of skin underneath.

Fast Facts

A VI Peel® is a medium-depth chemical peel that improves the appearance of aging and damaged skin in as little as one treatment. This treatment creates micro-damage on the top layer of skin, which causes it to peel, promoting new facial tissue growth. By removing damaged skin, a VI Peel® will leave you with smoother, brighter, replenished skin. The VI Peel® utilizes the following active ingredients:

Trichloroacetic Acid (TCA)
Smoothens scars and stimulates collagen growth.

Softens fine lines and wrinkles.

Salicylic Acid
Exfoliates and works as an anti-inflammatory.

Vitamin C
Fights free radicals caused by sun damage.

Helps with skin penetration.

  • Minimize sun exposure.
  • Do not exfoliate or use aggressive products for 1 week.

  • Skin is cleansed to remove all dirt and oils.
  • VI Peel® solution is applied to the skin in two applications.
  • A second layer is applied until the skin begins to frost.
  • Approximately 5-6 hours after treatment, the patient will wash the solution off.

  • Expect discomfort and redness.
  • For the first 2 nights, apply Retin-A towelette to cleanse skin and stimulate peeling.
  • Skin peeling begins 3 days after treatment and continues until day 7.
  • On day 3, begin using a strong moisturizer.
  • Do not peel the skin yourself to avoid scarring.

  • Results are noticeable after the first treatment.
  • Best results are achieved after a series of 4-6 treatments.
  • Maintenance treatments are recommended every 6 months.
How many VI Peels will I need, and how far apart should they be done?

A single peel will add a healthy glow, improving skin tone, texture, and clarity. It reduces or eliminates hyperpigmentation, sunspots, and softens fine lines and wrinkles. The number of treatments varies by individual needs and conditions and will be determined by our medical aesthetician. For extremely damaged skin, the VI Peel® can be done once a month for quicker results. For most patients, 2-3 VI Peels a year are sufficient to maintain results. Maintaining a proper skincare regime between peels will ensure the best duration of your results.

What will I look like right after the VI Peel® and how much will I peel?

Your skin will look slightly tan or bronzed immediately after the peel due to the retinoic acid. This fades within the hour. Over the next few days, your skin will feel tighter, and any pigmented areas may appear slightly darker at first. Skin peeling usually begins by day 3; it’s a light, fluffy peeling and is easily controlled with moisturizer. In some cases, the peel is virtually invisible. Patients on Retin-A may experience heavier peeling. By day 6 or 7, you will be done peeling and your skin will look amazing.

Is a VI Peel® painful?

Not really. Patients will feel a slight stinging sensation for a few seconds, which subsides completely almost immediately. The peel is applied topically, and numbing of the skin takes place after the first pass. Some patients may feel more comfortable using a fan or cold air breeze.

Are there any restrictions on activities after the VI Peel®?

We recommend avoiding heavy sweating for the first few days after the peel. Normal activities may be resumed immediately after the peel. It is advisable to keep sun exposure to a minimum when the skin is peeling. Daily use of SPF is required.

Can I wear makeup after the VI Peel®?

You can wear makeup after the skin has completed the peeling process. During the peeling process, only moisturizer is advised.
